Mary Mulari has been teaching and sharing creative sewing projects since 1982. A frequent guest on Sewing with Nancy, she has written 23 books, designed embroidery/appliqué cards, patterns, and her own line of apron and accessories patterns. Rita's Sew Fun




In 1986, Rita Farro opened a fabric/sewing machine store in Clinton, Iowa. To promote her business, she developed a little presentation -- “How To Dress With Style When You Feel Like Cher But Look Like Roseanne”. It became such a hit she was soon traveling all over the country. Rita wrote the popular book, “Life Is Not A Dress Size” and became a professional speaker and writer.

Sandra Betzina is an international lecturer and author of many sewing books, including her 2 new releases: POWER SEWING TOOLBOX 1 & 2.

She has produced 12 instructional DVDs, written a syndicated sewing column and hosted a sewing show for HGTV for 6 years. Sandra designs a line of patterns for Vogue, called Today’s Fit which are based on a ready to wear sizing bloc, which actually fits people. Sandra also writes fitting and sewing articles for Vogue Pattern Magazine, Threads and Sew News.

Before you learn the nitty gritty of making a shirt, you need to know how to alter the pattern to fit you.

Sandra will bring fitting shells in all sizes for her best selling shirt Vogue 1165. Sandra will fit you and determine what alterations you may need for rounded back, large or small bust, small shoulders, broad back, large arms and rounded tummy. Next you will see fabrics which make the best shirts followed by foolproof techniques for tailored sleeve plackets, pointed collar, neckbands, French and flat fell seams, bulk free buttonholes and shirttail hems.

Barb is a nationally designer, teacher and lecturer. She has designed and constructed one-of-a-kind garments, using her label, “Barb Originals,” for 25 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in counseling. She is a Martha Pullen educator and a member of PACC and ASG. In addition to producing her own newsletter, Barb has recently become a contributing author for Threads magazine and Sew Beautiful magazine. Pam Clarke has been quilting since the late 1960's and sewing for 46 years. She lives in Spokane WA and grew up in Sacramento CA. Pam has been machine quilting and teaching machine quilting, piecing and appliqué classes since 1988. She is the owner of Homes Stitches a professional machine quilting business that was started in 1988. Her work can be seen in several published magazines and books. She quilts for Debbie Mumm, K-P kids, Fiber Mosaics, Mary Lou and Company, Fabric Sales, Kaufman, Bernantix, Retta Weirheim and Martingale.

Whether you are a confident beginner or an advanced machine quilter whether you are using a home machine, short arm machine or a longarm machine, you will find this class packed full of valuable information so simple to learn that you will be amazed at the versatile and exciting ways you’ll approach machine quilting. This workshop is designed to help speed up the process of machine quilting. Pam Clarke will share her convenient, proven and helpful methods of creating outstanding designs. Discover the easy to follow instructions to customizing and personalizing your quilt tops.

This workshop will begin with sketching in a workbook provided by Pam Clarke. Follow along as she draws these designs using an overhead projector and discover the effective and convenient approach to unlimited designs using basic lines as a reference guide. Then watch as she demo’s using the Longarm and shows you how to mark and stitch these designs.
Experience the dramatic difference in how you approach your next quilt and appreciate the outstanding quality you will be able to create and the confidence in knowing you can create a unique and invaluable style of your own. A serious class packed full of useful information.

Easy Elegant Borders - WORKSHOP
Confident Beginner to Advanced
Borders, Borders, and more Borders will be the topic of discussion in this workshop.
Learn three borders techniques that will change the way you approach your next quilt. Several samples and techniques will be covered in class along with a workbook to keep notes. Using your workbook follow along with Pam as she draws these borders using an overhead and learn how to design these effortless borders.

Working with corners and sashing/lattice is the goal using several straight line stencils as reference points to develop outstanding designs to help speed up your marking and quilting time. Discover how to deal with problem borders or lattice and which design works best in these areas. You will be amazed how simple borders can really be. All levels of quilters welcomed in this class.

Judy Lea Weber is the owner and founder of Judy Lea Enterprizes www.judyleaenterprizes.com. Judy Lea Enterprizes is well known throughout the Carolinas as a premier retailer of contemporary fabrics, Dupioni silks, batiks and quilting related art supplies. Judy has been quilting for approximately 15 years and sewing for many more. A native Californian, Judy completed graduate art courses at Cal-State Fullerton and Cal-State Los Angeles focusing on color theory and two-dimensional design and recently Judy became a Certified Sulky Instructor. She came to quilting from a craft background (decoupage, macramé, etc., etc.) and owned a stained glass studio for 8 years.

Judy’s current work focuses on the use of contemporary fabrics and embellishments on traditional quilt patterns, purses, totes and handbags.


Market Tote Bag & 15 Min Cosmetic Bag - WORKSHOP
Finished Size 20" x 20"

This is a very large tote bag. Light weight, strong and great for travel or shopping. The tote is fully lined, with pockets inside and out. The top opening uses a zipper. Nothing can escape. Fun and easy to make. Once you make this tote, you will never need to buy a basic purse or tote pattern again. The size is easily adjustable.

There are two options with this class.

Option A
A patchwork bag. A great way to use theme fabrics. I have used traditional African fabrics.

Option B
Use a large scale fabric.

Option A fabric requirements.
A minimum of six different fabrics. 1/4 yard each. Fat quarters will work, as will scraps. Strip together, making two pieces 21" X 21". You can do this in class, or before class.
Fabric for pockets, measuring 9' X 13" or there about. You will need at least three of these pieces.
One yard - lining.

Option B - fabric requirements
Panel print, large scale print. One for back and one for front of tote.
At least 21 “ X 21"
One yard for lining.
Fabric for pockets, two fat quarters will work.
Fusible fleece, approximately 2/3 yard. Enough for the front and back of the tote. Available in class.

Supplies for Option A & B
24 inch zipper. NO METAL ZIPPERS ALLOWED.
Rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler.
Basic sewing supplies.

Cosmetic Bag. Fabric and supplies.
7" or longer zipper. NO METAL ZIPPER
Outer fabric, minimum 6" X 9"
Lining fabric, same as above.

Supplies available for purchase in workshop.
Zippers, strapping, fusible fleece.
